In case of Netgear wifi extender with an Ethernet port 

  • In the first step of doing Netgear EX7300 Extender setup manually, connect your computer with Netgear EX7300 extender with an ethernet port with the help of an ethernet cable. Now open the web browser of your choice upon your computer screen and Login to the web user interface of your NETGEAR WiFi Extender. Type the web address in the URL bar http://myWiFiext.net.
  • A screen will be open, Here you will be asked to enter the username and password. Enter the credentials as required. Default login credentials are:
  • Username: admin
  • Password: password

Note: Please note that the Username and password are case sensitive.

  • When you are logged in, go to Setup and then enter into the settings of wireless under optionWireless Settings. Check the value in the Password which usually is your Network key. You will locate this under the option name Security Options. In case the password is not the same as your router password, change it so it matches.
  • After this click on option name Apply. Now in the final step of doing Netgear EX7300 Extender setup manually, Reconnect your Wi-Fi devices to the NETGEAR WiFi Extender.

 

In case of Netgear wifi extender without an Ethernet port 

  • First, reset the NETGEAR WiFi Extender to its factory default settings. You can do this with the reset button. Locate the Factory Settings button on the side panel and press and hold it for approximately seven seconds. In the second step Connect via Wi-Fi to your NETGEAR WiFi extender.
  • Now open the web browser of your choice upon your computer screen and Login to the web user interface of your NETGEAR WiFi Extender. Type the web address in the URL bar http://myWiFiext.net.
    • A screen will be open, Here you will be asked to enter the username and password. Enter the credentials as required. Default login credentials are:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: password
  • Note: Please note that the Username and password are case sensitive.
  • Now follow the instructions as per the setup wizard to set up your connection to your router.

Note: Please Do NOT use WPS when reconnecting to the router

  • Now in the final step of doing Netgear EX7300 Extender setup manually, Reconnect your Wi-Fi devices to the NETGEAR WiFi Extender.

Steps to do Netgear EX7300 Extender setup with WEB GUI

To do the Netgear Ex7300 extender setup with installation assistant, please refer below-mentioned instructions:

  • In the first step, connect the extender into the power with power plug o an electrical outlet. Then wait for a couple of seconds the Power LED   to light green. Sometimes it does happen that the power lights do not turn green. In that case, press the Power On/Off button on the extender. After this connect your device to the extender using a wired Ethernet or WiFi connection:

Connect with ethernet cable:

  • if you are using the ethernet connection then use an Ethernet cable to connect the Ethernet port on the extender to an Ethernet port on your computer.

Connect with wifi

  • If you are connecting with wifi then in your wifi capable device, please open the WiFi connection manager and locate and connect to the extender network named as NETGEAR_EXT. When the connection is established you will find that the Client Link LED  lights will blink.

 

  • In the second step of doing the setup, please open the web browser of your choice upon your computer screen and Login to the web user interface of your NETGEAR WiFi Extender. Type the web address in the URL bar www.mywifiext.net or http://192.168.1.250
  • There a pop-up window will open also called as New Extender Setup page displays. After this select the NEW EXTENDER SETUP option. Follow the instruction and complete the fields, After that click on Next option. In the next step of doing the setup, check that the Access Point/Extender switch is set to Extender and proceed further and click the Continue button.
  • In the next step choose a WiFi network to extend and click the NEXT button. There will be two choices in the regard of band selection. In case If you do not want to extend both WiFi bands, clear the 2.4 GHz WiFi Networks or the 5 GHz WiFi Networks check box.
  • In the option name Password (Network Key) enter the existing WiFi network password. It is also named as passphrase or security key. After doing this click on the NEXT button. In the next option, you can select the login credentials for your Netgear extender. ThereSet the network name (SSID) and password for your extender and click the NEXT button.

Note: It is advised that you use a different network name (SSID) for your extender than the network name (SSID) that your router uses.

  • Now, wait for the next couple of minutes as it will take a few seconds to display a list of new extender WiFi networks. After this connect your wifi capable device to the new extender WiFi network.
  • You will be prompted to enter the login credentials so enter the extender SSID and password that you created previously. When you checked that your wifi enabled device is successfully connected to extender network then click the CONTINUE button. After this, a popup message will appear says that the extender is connected and ready.
  • When you click on continue after this registration page will displays. Follow the instructions on the registration page and enter the required details. When complete, click the FINISH button to complete the setup. You also have an option to skip the registration by clicking the Skip Registration link.

Note: It is advised that you must register your extender before you can use NETGEAR telephone support.

  • After this, a status page will displays. Now remove the extender from the power socket and move it to a new location that is about halfway between your router and the area with a poor router WiFi signal.

Note: Please be careful when you choose the location of extender as the chosen place must be within the range of your existing WiFi router network.

  • When the extender place is chosen, connect the extender into an electrical outlet and wait for the Power LED to light green. For this, you can also you use the Router Link LED   to help you choose a spot where the extender-to-router connection is optimal. IN case if you find that the Router Link LED doesn’t light amber or green then connect the extender into an outlet closer to the router and try again. Now keep replacing the extender place till the time you don’t find that the Router Link LED lights amber or green.
  • After the above step, Reconnect your computer or WiFi device to the new extended WiFi network. After doing the setup, its time to test the network, To do so move your computer or WiFi device to the area with a poor router WiFi signal.
  • Now verify the Client Link LED   on the extender. So check if the Client Link LED is solid green or amber, your extended WiFi network reaches the area with a poor router WiFi signal and your network setup is complete. In case not when Client Link LED is red, your extended WiFi network does not reach the area with a poor router WiFi signal. You must move the computer or WiFi device closer to the extender until the Client Link LED turns solid green or amber.

Steps to do Netgear EX7300 Extender setup with WPS PIN

  • In the first step of doing the setup, first, open the web browser of your choice upon your computer screen and Login to the web user interface of your NETGEAR WiFi Extender. Type the web address in the URL bar http://myWiFiext.net.

Note: Please note that you need to use a computer or wifi enbaled device which is connected to your Netgear EX7300 extender.

  • Now open the web browser of your choice upon your computer screen and Login to the web user interface of your NETGEAR WiFi Extender. Type the web address in the URL bar http://myWiFiext.net. A screen will be open, Here you will be asked to enter the username and password. Enter the credentials as required. Please note that the Username and password are case sensitive. When you entered your username and password a status page will displays.
  • Now click on Settings and then move further and click on Do More and after that Connect Devices (WPS). by doing this you will open Connect Devices (WPS) page. After this click on Pin Number radio option. there type the PIN of the WiFi device in the field.
  • After this Click on Next option. Now your WPS PIN is connected. To check if the Wifi device is connected to your extender’s WiFi network, select Settings > Connected Devices.
